Prof. Kangwon Lee
Kangwon
Lee is an assistant professor in Graduate School of Convergence Science and Technology
at Seoul National University (SNU), Korea. He was a senior research scientist
at Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) and an adjunct associate
professor of biomedical engineering at University of Science and Technology
(UST), Korea before joining SNU. He received his bachelor degree (BS) in
materials science and engineering (MSE) from Pohang University of Science and
Technology (POSTECH), the master degree (MS) in MSE from SNU and the Ph. D. in MSE
from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He has further studied cell and tissue
engineering at Harvard University as a postdoctoral fellow under Professor,
David, J. Mooney. After working at Samsung Electronics (Samsung Information
System America, SISA) as a staff scientist and a visiting scientist at MIT
(joint affiliation), he hadworked KIST for two years (2013-2015) and has joined
SNU at 2015. His expertise spans interdisciplinary fields of tissue
engineering, chemistry and nanotechnology with primary research interest in
development of novel polymeric biomaterials for tissue regeneration and
synthesis and fabrication of nanobiomaterials for bioimaging. He has published
over 30 peer-reviewed articles, over 100 presentations with over 30 invited
presentations, and 10 patents pending or granted. He received several awards
including 2007 ACS excellence in graduate polymer research award and 2015
Wiley-PSK MRC Young Scientist Award
