Dr. Yong Zhao Michael is currently Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the School of Engineering, Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan. Previously he was faculty member in Alfaisal University, Saudi Arabia for 7 years and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore for 18 years. His research interest is in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computational structural dynamics (CSD) and their engineering applications, fluid-structure interaction, biomedical mechanics, internal combustion engines and renewable energy systems using CFD as a design tool. He has received a number of awards for his research work, including The Blue Challenge bronze award from IBM, a Cray Quest gold award from Silicon Graphics and a MIT conference fellowship from the 2nd MIT conference on Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics. He has published about 100 research papers, many of them in top journals, such as Journal of Computational Physics and International Journal of Numerical Methods in Engineering. He is also on the editorial board of the Journal of Engineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics. He has co-authored the first McGraw-Hill fluid flow handbook which covers micro- and nano-scale fluid flow.
